I think that it is a really good idea.
my sister has really bad ashma and if someone starts smoking near her she starts to wheeze and cougth. the person who is smoking can see the problem that they are causing but chose to do nothing about it and if you go and ask them to stop smoking they look at me like i have got two heads then ignore me and dont stop what they are doing. It anoys the hell out of me. Many a time i have had to leave a cafe or get out of a lift because of someone smoking. Lifts are the worse place to smoke cos the smoke stays in there even after the person is gone so my sister wont beable to go in there even after they have left which means she has to walk up the stairs which is bad for her and causes her to wheeze and cougth almost as much as she would have done in the lift. I can see how some smokers may feel unfairly treated as they feel that they are doing no harm and the government has no right to control what they do but it is in the best interest for people around you. not all smokers are as disrespectful as some that i have mentioned but it is the people who smoke and are self centered that give all smokers a bad name.
(rant over lol)

I'm a (considerate) smoker, but I do think the ban is fair enough. Before I started I hated people smoking around me. Although smokings area's could work, smoke goes up so would not effect someone in a different part of a building. Next they're putting the smoking age up to 18, and a dare say it'll be banned outdoors as well soon enough. That's when it'll be rediculous.
